Service MOB

Service Mob - Large numbers of people, doing large community service projects, quickly...

The idea...  Use large numbers of volunteers to tackle big community service projects. Keep the 'event' well organized, maximize man-power, and keep the volunteer time to under an hour.

Potential Projects

GW Parkway Cleanup:
  • Park at Georges House. (George Washington's House for folks not from the area.)
  • Volunteers arrive and are assigned number. (The number will be where they are cleaning the park areas.)
  • Van drops them off along GW Parkway for cleanup.
  • Each group is assigned a small portion of the route.
  • 30 minutes after drop off the van picks up.
  • Total time from arrival to departure: 50 minutes

Mass Tree Planting Project:
  • Large open field where land owner is willing to have 1000 trees planted.
  • 1000 donated trees
  • Volunteers arrive and are assigned number. (The number will be where they are planting trees.)
  • Golf carts will take people to their designated planting area.
  • 100 people x 10 trees each = 1000 trees planted in 20 minutes
  • Total time from arrival to departure:  45 minutes

Blood Donation Drive:
  • Large number of nurses to get as many people as possible donating at once.
  • School Gym or Cafeteria Area for donation process. (Area is sectioned off by number)
  • Volunteers arrive and are assigned number. (The number will be the area where they will donate blood.)
  • Total time from arrival to departure: 1 hour
