Merry Christmas everyone! During this holiday season remember when you get that shiny new computer for Christmas that your old computer could be used by someone else. If you donate your machine to the program I will erase everything off the hard drive, refurbish the machine, and give it out to a student who could use it. Your old becomes someone's new. Have a great holiday.
Bartlett What a week it has been for the Computer Equipment for Kids Program!! We received a total of 18 laptops donated to the program from multiple organizations: TeraThink and LMI. If your employer has a drawer or cabinet full of laptops they are trying to get rid of, we'll take them!! The Computer Equipment for Kids Program will be giving computers to the Our Neighbor's Child program this year to help with inventory of gifts. Our Neighbor's Child provides holiday gifts for children in low income families in western Fairfax County. This program is awesome and if you want to donate or volunteer please visit their website http://www.ourneighborschild.org/donate-now.html . Thank you all for the support, I would not be able to do any of this without you!! mark Hello all,
We have 6 computers which are ready for new homes!! Only problem is we do not have any monitors to go with them. If you live in Virginia and have a monitor you would like to part with.. Give us a shout! mrbartlett@mrbartlett.com Mark The Computer Equipment for Kids Program will be giving away the 30th computer this Friday! In under a year we have been able to collect donations of computer equipment from friends, family, and the community and turn around and give 30 machines away to grateful families. Thanks for the support!! This program would not be here if it wasn't for you all!
On a side note, I will be attending a class next month on how to setup a 501c. My goal is to make the Computer Equipment for Kids Program a 501c by Christmas. Never stop learning. Mark On Friday, June 7th I had the pleasure to attend the Parents as Educational Partners Graduation Ceremony at my old alma mater Mount Vernon High School. The Computer Equipment for Kids program is providing computers to the graduating class to help in their continued education. These folks are doing some GREAT WORK and making a huge difference in the community. The Mount Vernon High School web page has some pictures from the event: http://www.fcps.edu/MtVernonHS/photo_gallery/2012_2013/parent_education_program/index.htm I look forward to the continued partnership between the PEP and Computer Equipment for Kids Program. Never stop learning. mark Finally made it official and got the 'computerequipmentforkids domain name for the website. So now when you tell your friends about the program you can tell them to visit: computerequipmentforkids.org And thanks again for all the donations and support.
Mark All computers which are distributed through the Computer Equipment for Kids program have a user and root password: student123!
It is encouraged for all recipients to change these passwords. If you have any questions on how to change the password on the system please shoot me an email: mrbartlett@mrbartlett.com Thanks! mark Hello all! I have updated the Computer Equipment for Kids Wish List. The biggest thing I need right now are hard drives. I received a large donation from a government contractor but all the hard drives had been removed. So I am looking for 10 WD - Western Digital 160GB SATA 3.5 Hard Drive - WD1600AAJS drives. They are around 30 bucks. A small price to pay to help in the learning of a child. And as always thanks for all the help and support! mark Received this email from the FCPS Outreach program:
