Hi Mark, Just wanted to check in- it's the end of the school year down in Georgia so things are winding down! The computers have been SO amazing this year and my kids have gotten so much great use out of them. I wanted to let you know that one of my girls was just accepted into an awesome summer program in Atlanta called Girls Who Code. She wants to study engineering at Georgia Tech so the computer science club plus this program puts her right on track! Thanks again for helping us out so much- we appreciate the computers SO much. I hope all is well in Virginia! Thanks again, Erin Hi ALL! I'm sitting finishing up building out my 140th laptop! It's amazing the support I have received since starting this program. Erin O'Neill has a plan to start a computer science club at Morrow HS in Morrow Georgia. Erin is a graduate from Virginia Tech and is now a teacher in the Teach For America program. She is trying to get a computer science club and eventually an AP Computer Science Program started at the school and needs some help getting her program going. I worked with her dad on the Our Neighbors Child Program the last two years. This is where the Computer Equipment for Kids program comes in, we have a new goal to get 24 laptops donated to Erin's Computer Club. We will take the donations, refurbish them, install Ubuntu and some other tools/apps which the students can use to gain new skills sets and make their way through the AWESOME curriculum Erin is coming up with for the classes (CS first: http://www.cs-first.com/Codecademy for schools: http://www.codecademy.com/schools). Once we have the laptops built and ready to go we will be driving them down to Georgia to deliver them to the school. If YOU would like to help us meet this goal and have a useable laptop (with Wifi) to donate please email me: mrbartlett@mrbartlett.com And as always, never stop learning. Mark We have just finished building out machine #100! I would like to thank everyone who has donated along the way. This program would have never gotten here without you. Here's to 100 more.

mark The Computer Equipment for Kids program is honored to be providing computers to Our Neighbors Child for the second year in a row. A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to 1901 Group for donating all the laptops!! The Computer Equipment for Kids inventory was running VERY low and without your donation we would have not been able to help this very important program. |
