Erin O'Neill has a plan to start a computer science club at Morrow HS in Morrow Georgia. Erin is a graduate from Virginia Tech and is now a teacher in the Teach For America program. She is trying to get a computer science club and eventually an AP Computer Science Program started at the school and needs some help getting her program going. I worked with her dad on the Our Neighbors Child Program the last two years. This is where the Computer Equipment for Kids program comes in, we have a new goal to get 24 laptops donated to Erin's Computer Club. We will take the donations, refurbish them, install Ubuntu and some other tools/apps which the students can use to gain new skills sets and make their way through the AWESOME curriculum Erin is coming up with for the classes (CS first: http://www.cs-first.com/Codecademy for schools: http://www.codecademy.com/schools). Once we have the laptops built and ready to go we will be driving them down to Georgia to deliver them to the school. If YOU would like to help us meet this goal and have a useable laptop (with Wifi) to donate please email me: [email protected]
And as always, never stop learning.
